Disney’s Rider Switch

Every family likes different rides. Some children are not tall enough to ride the big ones. What are adults and older kids in the family to do when visiting Walt Disney World? We are here to explain the solution, Disney’s Rider Switch. Read below and we will tell you just how to make this work for your group on your next trip.

What is Disney’s Rider Switch

If you have a guest in your party that does not want to or cannot ride a certain ride it does not have to detract from everyone else’s park visit. Disney offers a line hack to ensure the people who want to ride can ride. Everyone can ride without having to stand in line twice.

How to use Rider Swap

  1. Greet Cast Member at entrance to ride and make sure this ride offers Rider Switch
  2. Let the Cast Member know you would like to use Rider Switch and which people will go on the ride and which people will wait. The Cast Member will instruct those waiting on where to wait while the riders enter the queue.
  3. Riders will go through the normal queue and ride the attraction.
  4. Once the rider group is finished, they will meet with the waiting group.
  5. A Cast Member will verify Rider Switch and will instruct the second party on how to enter the ride (not via the standby queue). This is typically done via the Lightning Lane entrance.

*Note* If the attraction is a Virtual Queue, all Rider Swap guests must be in the boarding group or have Individual Lightning Lane purchased prior to queuing for the attraction.

For all you need to know regarding the Virtual Queue see our post Theme Park Vacations Virtual Queue. We make the virtual queue easy to understand.
