Disney’s Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes

Ahh how we miss the old FastPass system Disney used prior to the pandemic closures. Disney parks now use a new “process” for reserving a spot in line, well, a few different processes. No worries. We will walk through them and demystify queuing in the parks. Join us for Disney’s Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes post.

How to use Genie+ and Cost

Beginning at midnight, the day of your park visit, you can opt to buy Genie+. This is not to be confused with Disney’s complimentary Genie option in your My Disney Experience app which allows you to view “My Day” and “Tip Board.” Genie+ Is an additional cost and you need to have a park ticket for the day. It ranges from $15 to $39 (as of January 2024) for the day. Most groups can get 2-3+ Lightning Lanes in an average day.

After purchasing Genie+, beginning at 7am, you can begin booking Lightning Lanes for your day. You can book one attraction at a time. Once you either tap into the queue or 2 hours after you booked your previous attraction, you can book a second. This differs a bit from the previous FastPass. Genie+ will assign you a return time at which you can tap into the queue.

Along with bypassing the standby queue Genie+ gives you access to Photo Pass, Photo Pass Lenses in the My Disney Experience app, and audio tales around the parks. If you are buying Genie+, you might as well make sure to get some photos of your best day ever.

Which Rides?

Most rides participate in Genie+ but not all. When planning your day, there are better options to use it depending on your travel party. One group may find Genie+ beneficial to get on Dumbo while others will find Test Track fits their party better.

There are a few rides that require Disney’s Virtual Queue and a few also have Individual Lightning Lanes for purchase. For all about Disney’s virtual queue see Disney’s Virtual Queue. Individual Lightning Lanes will be covered a bit later in this post. Stay Tuned!!!
