  1. Walt Disney World in Florida is about the same size as San Francisco or twice the area of Manhattan at 30,500 acres.
  2. The tallest ride on property at Walt Disney World is Expedition Everest and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at 199 feet tall. Any structures two hundred feet or over are required to display aviation warning lights and Imagineers felt this would ruin the immersion and atmosphere of their designs.
  3. You cannot buy chewing gum on property at Walt Disney World. This was a plan by Walt to keep the property clean and reduce the labor of cleaning up discarded gum.
  4. Regarding cleanliness, there are very few spots in any of the parks where you are further than thirty feet away from a trash can. There were studies done to determine the average distance a person would carry trash before throwing it on the ground.
  5. Utilidors are underground tunnels under Magic Kingdom that cast members can use to get from one area of the park to another without being seen by guests. One group that uses these a lot are in character cast members. You can never see two of the same character at one time to keep the magic.
  6. There are cast members that work in Disney greenhouses that will transplant flowers at resorts over night to ensure the flowers are always in bloom and guests never see them working on the landscape. Disney cast members also do all their mowing and lawn maintenance over nighttime and off-hours.
  7. The Contemporary Resort holds huge political notoriety. President Nixon gave his “I am not a crook” speech from that location in 1973.
  8. The greenhouses in EPCOT’s land pavilion grow much of the produce used in most of the restaurants on property. You can visit the greenhouses in Living with the Land  and the Behind the Seeds Tour. Both of which we highly suggest. There is an effort for Disney to be a “zero landfill output” business by 2030.
  9. Walt Disney World’s monorail has 14.7 miles of track and has twelve vehicles all designated by a color. Every day more than 150,000 people ride the monorail at Walt Disney World.

  16. The Fantasmic Amphitheater measures only about a foot and a half deep in most areas. Watching the show, you would never believe this one.
  17. Disney’s Animal Kingdom uses very few fences in their habitats. When fences are used, they are mostly not visible to park guests. Using perspective, Zookeepers and Imagineers can make the animals see an obstacle while a guest will see a natural environment.
  18. Mission Space in EPCOT is one of the most intense rides on property. The computer controls to operate the ride are more powerful than the computers used to fly an actual NASA space shuttle launch.
